This just made me laugh and laugh...
Coming downstairs in my apartment building this morning I heard the sound of a vacuum cleaner turn on. It was coming from the first apartment where a newlywed couple and their black and white shepardy type dog live. Now earlier I had run bumped into her in the hallway as she left on her way to work, so I knew Hubby was home alone on a Saturday doing the housework.
A minute after the vacuum turned on I heard their dog start howling. Howling at the sound of the vacuum (not unlike the sound dogs make when I pull in with my siren on). A moment later though the sound of a second voice howling joined the first. It was quite obviously the Hubby's voice and he was mimicking the dog as he vacuumed. When the dog's pitch would rise, so would his, just as if he was teasing the poor creature. They howled away together as they worked.
I laughed picturing him and the pooch in there. It always amuses me when people forget that they are not necessarily alone and wind up doing the silliest of things. Picking noses when they think nobody is looking, monkeying around with medical equipment when nobody is around, scratching rear-ends or passing gas in the elevator not realizing the security camera is on and somewhere a guard is laughing. My favorite has to be the folks who like to sing in their cars. Some really get into it, and though you may not hear whatever they are singing (thank the heavens) it looks like you are watching someone singing a full blown opera in there. Chris and I sing quite frequently, pretty much anywhere at anytime, but he and I don't give performances like some of the people we see out in the traffic.
So hats off to Hubby and his dog, its always nice to see (and hear) people who are happy. He will never know I heard him, and that fact made me smile even more.
