This just made me laugh. An elderly woman came into Urgent Care today and this was the conversation that transpired:
Me: ... When did this all happen?
Granny: ... Yesterday morning.
Me: ... Okay and what symptoms were you experiencing Ma'am?
Granny: ... My cereal was all soggy.
Me: ... Pardon Ma'am?
Granny: .....I carried my cereal to the livingroom and put my bowl on my tray and sat down. Next thing I knew my head was all the way back against the cushions, and my cereal was soggy. I guess I poured the milk and must have gone out. When I sat up my cereal was all soggy and mushy. It was ruined, I must have been out for a long time! What do you think?...
Personally I am betting she just fell asleep, but you can't laugh and dismiss your patient's seriousness. Sometimes its hard to keep a straight face, especially when the doctor leans over and whispers: "I can't wait to see how you chart this one..." as he leaves the room.
